We would like to shine a spotlight on the Gravelbourg SARCAN Depot, and it's incredible work in recycling and customer service!
Gravelbourg SARCAN is located at 405 1st Avenue East, and has become a pillar of sustainable living. The Gravelbourg SARCAN is operated by Gravelbourg Bon Ami, Inc. The Depot provides Gravelbourg and surrounding areas with a convenient place for residents to recycle beverage containers, paint and electronics (to name a few). The Depot also serves as a hub for fostering a culture of environmental cleanliness.
SARCAN was founded by SARC and the provincial government in 1988 to provide recycling services for aluminum cans, and provide employment opportunities to people that SARC supported. Gravelbourg Bon Ami was one of the first members of SARC that opened a depot (along with 32 others).
One of the best qualities of the Gravelbourg SARCAN Depot is the exceptional customer service they provide to the community. The Depot's friendly and knowledgeable staff go above and beyond to assist customers, and make recycling FUN. The dedication to great customer service has been recognized with awards in both 2023 and 2017, which shows their ongoing commitment to recycling and service.

The Numbers:
In 2022-2023 SARCAN had a return rate of 85%. This means that 494 MILLION beverage containers were recycled, and 1.5 MILLION customers were served throughout Saskatchewan. Did you know that SARCAN has one of the highest return rates in Canada. The avoided emissions from recycling is the equivalent of taking 11 THOUSAND cars off the road annually, and conserving enough energy to power nearly 10 THOUSAND homes for an entire year.
